Touch panel with feedback?

If Apple's new device had haptic interface? It's big news for me.

Touch interface has fatal deficit for auto information device. Practically I used to set my iPhone in near side of steering wheel. But touch operation is so difficult, because it requires glances at devices. My operations for iPhone in the car is the following:

• Take a look at iPhone in safety situation. And keep in mind a displayed button which I want to touch.
• Set my thumb at home position, and according to my memories try to touch the button. (As you know. Sometimes I miss.)

That is a big problem.

Apple iSlate がなんらかのフィードバックを持った Touch Interface を採用となれば、それは、私にとって大ニュース。

タッチパネルの最大の欠点は、手探りできないこと。こと、車載のデバイスではこれは致命的だ。実際、ステアリングのサイドにiPhoneを設置していたとしても操作は非常に難しい。通常は以下のような操作になる。

• 運転の安全な局面でパネルをちらっとみて、ホームポジションと押したい位置の関係を記憶する
• iPhoneのホルダーのホームポジションに左手の指をかけて記憶にたどってブラインドでタッチする(ヒットしないことも・・・)

信号待ちが頻発するなら問題ないが、走行中は操作不能に近い。実際、曲を選択する間に目的地に到着するなんてことも。車は安全が第一なので致し方ない。
